Encounter with a Red Panda on the Lumba Sumba Trek

Settled in the pristine wilderness of the eastern Himalayas, the Lumba Sumba Trek is a hidden gem for adventurous souls. It was on this remarkable journey, near the serene village of Olangchung Gola and alongside the rushing waters of the Tomor River, that we were graced with an extraordinary sight—a rare and enchanting Red Panda in its natural habitat.

This magical moment unfolded as we ventured through dense rhododendron forests and bamboo groves, guided by the expertise of Rajan Khatri and Ishwar Tamang, an experienced trek leader from Visit Himalaya Treks. The trek was organized for a group of enthusiastic clients from the UK and had already offered countless breathtaking views and cultural encounters, but the sighting of the elusive Red Panda was undoubtedly the highlight of our journey.
Watch out for the Video

The red panda, known for its striking russet fur, bushy tail, and playful demeanor, was perched gracefully among the foliage. It seemed unfazed by our presence, offering us a rare opportunity to witness its charm up close. Moments like these remind us of the unparalleled beauty and biodiversity of Nepal’s Himalayan trails, where nature thrives in its most untouched form.

This unforgettable experience not only deepened our appreciation for the region’s incredible wildlife but also highlighted the importance of sustainable and respectful trekking practices. The Lumba Sumba Trek, under the professional guidance of Visit Himalaya Treks, was not just a journey through stunning landscapes but also an immersion into the heart of Nepal’s natural wonders.

BURIAL RITUALS OF LO MANTHANG (MUSTANG IN NEPAL)

Hidden inside a narrow cave of just five feet high and six feet deep in the Lo Manthang (Mustang) region was a tomb which was formed by digging a shaft into the ground and then expanding it into a chamber. Located at Samdzong in Upper Mustang , the shaft tomb was just one among many of such mortuary caves veiled in the mystical kingdom. In 1987, when a tunnel was being built for a small-scale hydroelectric project in Chokhopani in Mustang, a burial cave was exposed by accident. The project in fact led to a distinct discovery of 2,000 to 3,000-year-old human corpses. Upper Mustang Trekking 2013 Slideshow & Video: TripAdvisor™ TripWow ★ Upper Mustang Trekking 2013 Slideshow Mustang is a place where beauty and happiness flourish despite hardships and obstacles.  Mustang has a long, rich and complex history that makes it one of the most interesting parts of Nepal. However, a Mustang is geographically difficult to leave but the beauty of this place is more difficult to explain in words. While one visits this isolated and mystic region once, one feels enchanting and inspired. Buddhist monasteries and nunneries are built into forbidding cliffs. There are many monasteries from the 14th century, Buddhist shrines, Thanks, Mandalas, and deities in and around the cliff. It is believed that there are many caves where Tibetan monks have meditated. The starkly beautiful, windy, arid Tibetan plateau is unbroken for many hours of trekking or riding on, horseback is also other exciting parts of Mustang.
